Medical version of Wikipedia, with Universities’ help, gets ready to go live

From The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Wired Blog, we got news today that MedPedia, with input from the University of Michigan Medical School, will launch near the end of 2008.

This is an exciting development because the major criticism of Wikipedia (that it can be edited by ANYONE) is being addressed by only allowing vetted professionals to add and edit content. Of course, this may mean that experts begin waging their private battles over controversial topics within MedPedia entries, but it is certainly a step in an interesting direction.
